They have a business to run and I can imagine many people buy plants, maybe don't care for the properly and they die. He was helpful and suggested I split plants this fall to make up for some of the plants that didn't come back.
Unfortunately this was not how it was told to me. I think I was speaking with a manager or owner today, and basically was told the warranty was not explained properly to me. Today I drove to the garden center with my tags/receipts hopeful to replace those plants, but left with none. Yesterday I called to ask the process to get those plants replaced, did I need to dig them up and bring them in etc, the employee on the phone told me to bring my receipts and tags in, and she'd be able to replace it with plants that were in stock in the garden center, meaning I might have to substitute other plants as they are not ordering any plants until fall, which I was ok with. I did that, and still there were some that didn’t. I stopped in, in May to buy some hydrangeas and asked about the ones that hadn't come back yet, the employee had asked which plants weren't coming back, told me to give it a few more weeks as spring has come late this year. Most of the plants came back beautifully, but about 10% did not.
When I had asked the manager last summer about the warranty, she had said they'd replace the plant if it didn't come back this spring. We knew we were paying more at a nursery but with the promise of healthier stronger plants. She offered to come out to show us how to trim back the plants in the fall and we really felt our business was appreciated! We started purchasing all our plant materials last summer, several tree and many perennials and shrubs, around $4k, and bought more this spring when we started working on other beds.
She was very passionate about her work, listened intently to what we were after and came up with a beautiful design, we were truly impressed! The manager also was helpful and suggested buying plants during certain sales and understood that we needed to stick to a budget also. I called to ask about it and the garden center manager Alysha was prompt in her reply, was out to our home soon after to measure and started designing. I love gardening and so was excited that they offered a DIY landscape where they help with the design and I could do the planting. We started working with them last summer when we built our home and had an entire home to landscape. I have mixed feelings about River City Lawnscape.
